Success Story: Ray Kroc; Founder of McDonald’s
From: Joseph Bentley
Consider the following…
Ray Kroc took an idea and created a new business around it.
The idea was to invent a better little “money making machine” (a McDonald’s store), improve the machine with time, keep the machine simple and easy to operate and build more and more of the little machines with passing time.
“I gave a lot of men the opportunity to become millionaires.” Wrote Ray Kroc, in his autobiography (Grinding It Out: The Making of McDonald’s by Ray Kroc with Robert Anderson), “They did it themselves. I merely provided the means.”

Ray Kroc is one of my heros.
He didn’t start working on building McDonald’s until he was in his mid-50s (in the mid 1950s).
Before that, he honed his salesman skills selling paper cups, mixers (like Waring Blenders), real estate and other products.
During that entire time he kept his eyes open…
He made contacts, and he developed good habits of taking action.
Then, after seeing the McDonald brothers in California and observing how they became successful selling 15 cent hamburgers to large happy crowds he took their success formula and expanded it and after a lot of smart and hard work created a booming new business.
